Wish they reused more from Vangelis's original 1982 score.

They did use some of it, I believe mostly Tears In The Rain and it wasn't Vangelis's version.

Wish they had used a little more from the 1982 movie, particularly at the beginning of the film,
just like it's done in Star Wars movies, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, James Bond, and countless others, etc...

Initially, I was hoping we would hear Vangelis’ music. I used to think, how could they not use, or, at least redo part of the original score? But afterwards, I felt Tears in the Rain (even if it’s a new version) was the only piece of the Vangelis score that needed to be used in this sequel.

Sure, all those major films have effectively reused their predecessor’s iconic music. But that’s one of the reasons why this particular sequel stands out more. Like the whole film, the score for 2049 can be described as a tribute to Blade Runner while at the same time it sounds very much like a proper continuation. So, as significant as Vangelis’ marvelous music was to Blade Runner, the score by Zimmer and Wallfisch beautifully fills that void, as far as I’m concerned. It is perfect.

You said it perfectly, and I couldn’t agree more.

What I wonder is if he was asked to return to score the new film or not?
