Is it just me or was Blade Runner 2049 LOUD?

Perhaps it's because of my age (I'm 46) but I noticed this issue in Dunkirk and Blade Runner 2049, which each had Hand Zimmer composing the music.

The soundtrack for Blade Runner was deafening, although not as crazy as Dunkirk, where I had to cover my ears for big chunks of the film.

I know that this may be an issue with the AMC theater I go to, but I was having a hard time understanding dialogue in both films because my ear drums were being blasted out by the sound track during the action sequences.

Did anyone else have this experience, or is this my own personal problem?

I thought the music was way too loud. It seemed to me like the director was over-using it to build suspense. Music in movies contributes greatly to the story but in this one it was so loud and obvious, I thought it actually detracted from the story.

Agreed, it was the only part of the movie I didn't like

i had the same experience especially when you heard gunshots, too loud.

I also went to Blade Runner at an AMC theater and thought the bass was crazy during the movie. This is the first time I've been to an AMC in years, maybe it is something with their audio setup. Overall I thought the audio was pretty good, just the bass being extremely loud.

When I go to Harkins, I've never experienced something like this.

EXTRA EXTRA old man yells at clouds read all about it..

Yes. And louder does not equal better movie experience. Although the trip-wire explosion was pretty cool.

I really liked when the speakers were blaring, it's just a sound i really like and I think it works well when paired with Blade Runner's amazing visuals.

I was just listening the soundtrack, most of which I really, really like. But...yes, sometimes it was just too loud in the theater. Not a major problem, but at times, it detracted from the experience.

Yeah, i noticed that it was a little loud for me too, I'm 39. I'd like to add that even though the music played homage to the original soundtrack it still lacked substance. There was no central theme or any memorable pieces, just long overdrawn notes and at times just pure noise filler. I even hated it at times. I was only happy one time when I think I heard "tears in the rain" play.

If you listen to the soundtrack, there are a few recurring themes that WILL connect/resonate with you. But...not enough. So while the soundtrack is very, very good, I fear it will not be iconic. But heck, making an iconic soundtrack ain't easy!
