A quality film is all that matters. That said, an R rating would only feel right.

It has officially been rated R for... Replicant. And other good reasons, too. :J

Villenevue knows what's up.

Villenevue wouldn't do a PG-13 movie just to get people to see it. This movie needs to be R and the director doesn't seem likely to do it any other way.

Exactly. Unless he felt he had a very good reason to go with a PG-13 rating, then not for a second did I expect him to deliver anything but an R rated Blade Runner.
