The first movie was no masterpiece but it introduced us to Percy's world. I get that this is a tween set of novels but having all juvenile jokes was terrible. Watching heremes snakes argue was cringeworthy. Choosing a diary of whimpy kid director possibly sunk this set of movies

Actually it was the correct direction though not fully. In the book, George and Martha act like that the whole time. This movie overall was much more up to speed with the books but the stupid ending killed what progress the movie could have made.

Once Percy and Annabeth arrive on Polyphemus' island(Tyson supposedly 'died' earlier when the boiler in the ironclad explodes and the ship is torn apart then sinks), they climb up outside Polyphemus' cave where Grover is pretending to be a female cyclops and Clarisse is tied up. Clarisse blabs that Grover is a Satyr and then Polyphemus throws them into the cave and shuts the huge bolder door. Be the way, his island is just green landscape and hills with a huge tree in a field with the Fleece on it. They trick Polyphemus to remove the boulder and then the fight with him. At the end, Annabeth gets dropped on her head onto some rocks and has internal bleeding. Tyson who isn't died, Rainbow followed the ship and was under it and saved him after the ironclad blew up, walks over to the tree and grabs the Fleece. It heals Annabeth and the all of them leave the island on backs of hippocampi. They give Clarisse the air fair to get to camp from Miami and the Fleece and she leaves. Luke's man shortly capture them and bring them onto his cruise ship(not yacht). Percy tricks Luke into telling Camp half-blood through an Iris message that he poisoned the tree so Chiron can come back after Mr D fired him. Chiron and his cousins rescue them from Luke and he brings them back to camp.
