He has Arabic features, so he could have a US mom and a Middle-Eastern dad. 

When I'm gone I would like something to be named after me. A psychiatric disorder, for example.

Even if that's true, why do that when there are so many middle eastern men in america (particularly california)and even Europe?

That guy looks like he is Lebanese, I could be wrong. But, yeah I get where you are coming from but Hollywood has been doing that every since it began.

My 2 kids have arabic names but very white skin and blue eyes. Names means nothing

There are plenty of white-looking guys with names like Tariq, and besides, the dude in the movie did have Arab-looking features. Anyway, who cares? He dies 15 minutes into the movie.

I thought it was obvious he dies first because he's a filmmaker (both the character and the actor irl). As others have pointed out, this film is a black comedy, so it may be an in-joke of some sort. I don't remember them stating his ethnicity, either.
