I used to have problems on the IMDb Forums using the S word that describes quiet laughing, which uses the N word as well, if you know what I mean. It was always blocked or filtered.

"Sniggering" was used in My Fair Lady and is not bleeped out in the TV viewings I've seen, nor should it.

What I mean is, it's the filter that was used on IMDb Forums that was the problem, it would scan whole posts for strings of characters that had rude words, and blank them or something (I can't remember).

Yes, you've been able to use the "sniggering" or "snigger" words directly, but I've heard of or seen for myself instances when certain character or even place names caused problems, like:

Ashitaka, a major character in Hayao Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke - his name was blocked constantly because it had the word "shit" in it, or so it would seem to a primitive filter.

Scunthorpe, an English town, is another victim - the primitive IMDb Forums filter spotted "cunt" in the name and blocked it out. How stupid is that, eh?
