Anybody laugh out load at the scene where the KKK group are complaining about the masks? All Tarantino films have some clever subtle humour, but this scene wouldn't have felt out of place in a Mel Brooks or Monty Python movie.

shareEasily the highlight of the movie, IMO, despite (or perhaps because) the tone was *totally* different from the rest of the movie.
I totally thought the same as the OP too... Tarantino often uses dark humour in his films, and certainly does in Django Unchained, but that lynch mob scene was straight out of Blazing Saddles!
I actually wish the film was more like that, to be honest, though I wouldn't be surprised if that once scene was even written or directed by someone else (as Tarantino has done for other directors in the past).
That IS a hilarious moment. Tonally different from the rest of the film perhaps, but hysterically funny. Man, I’d even bet this is how it goes down with those crossburning chumps in real life, haha!!!
Kinda reminds me of the way South Park made fun of the KKK in one or two of the old school episodes.
Written like a well-timed comedy routine, with the one guy complaining how his wife spent ALL DAY cutting holes in those masks...and one of the guys kinda apologizing (in a wimpy, funny voice) and saying "We all agree that the masks could have been done a little better...but let's just skip the masks this time and then next time go with better masks, FULL REGALIA!")
Plus Don Johnson - handsome as any top-billed movie star, funny and nasty as Big Daddy -- lording over all of it in Big Boss Man Anger.
And "special guest star" Jonah Hill funny just standing there looking quizzical with his hood off -- "I don't understand...are we doing the masks on, or off?...but ah cain't see.")
That scene was stupid and obnoxious. It also had a jarring edit to start it out. By far the worst scene in the film.
