season 2

Since this is PlayStation's only original show and since it hasn't done very well with ratings does that mean it will be harder or easier to renew for season 2? Considering there's no competition.

How do you know how it has done with ratings?

reply

Kinda just guessed.

reply

How would ratings even matter here? It's not like they are expecting it to boost PlayStation sales.

Boost Playstation plus sales...

That's what I'm saying, if ratings don't matter then how do they decide if there's going to be a season 2?

Well it was never about ratings for them, it was about getting some media attention. I don't think it was exactly the sonic boom they were expecting so I guess we'll find out.

At this point renewal is based mostly on their other options. If they have something else in their drawers that might get them more attention (and probably needs less budget because let's be honest making a super-power show on this budget was kinda ludicrous when you see people's expectations in the VFX department now), Powers is as good as gone.

But I think it will get another season at least because they were expecting more from it so they probably don't have anything else ready for production yet.

I doubt they were going for a sonic boom. No big name cast members, just Sharlto and Izzard with their cult following. Not much investment money-wise. Near zero marketing. I don't think at any point in time, that the company that specialises in "cool" thought that their audience wouldn't notice the lack of effort graphics wise.

It reminds me of DirecTV doing Rogue (with Thandie Newton) and Kingdom (with Frank Grillo). More experimental and watched by people who have already signed up than trying to pull in anyone new. I have Direct TV and half the time I don't even know which channel to find these shows on. Discovered them both randomly. Rogue is going into season 3 now, despite every reason why it shouldn't. Only cable and TV works like that I find. Netflix has gone rogue, maybe PS just wanted to try it. And picked Powers because demographics said it was a better option than The Real Little Ponies.

Or I'm just being ridiculously optimistic cause I like it. After that end, I want season 2 badly. So many people still hung up on the cgi and special effects, I got used to it after the first episode. Everything in the world can't look like a Zac Snyder movie.

To be honest i can handle the retro styling and cheapo cgi..what i can't handle is another lame TEEN girl put out there to be likable when she isn't, every time she spoke i just wanted to shove my hand through her head....lol ..she was pathetic and not in the i want to look after you way just annoying....What shocks me is she has powers now which are annoying..because she will be back.

I think it will get a season 2 because they have competition in xbox working on their original series halo with Steven Spielberg

reply

I dunno. I didn't really care for the last 4 episodes of Daredevil, this show doesn't seem half bad so far for the first 2 episodes.

The impressive part is that the source material of this series rates very well on Amazon, which helps. It may not translate 100%, but at least it has quality stock to start from.

It has been renewed for season 2.

Thank god. This show Is amazing. I'm absolutely riveted. I can't quite put my finger on why I love It so much. Maybe just the concept of power like that and the darkness that comes with It.

reply

I'm with you! I just finished the final episode and I can't wait for the second season. I love the story line here, and I think the characters are fantastic!

reply

I like the show because it has its own identity.
