Season 3?

I poked around a little and haven't seen anything about a Season 3. Has Sony annouced if this series will be continuing into a season 3?

reply

At the moment, I am concerned there will not be a season 3. I have not seen much of an Internet footprint from Powers. If it does return, they might retool it again. I think in a couple of months, we can start some Internet searching for some answers either way. My guess at the moment is that a decison will be slowed or delayed. Overall, Sony is having problems at the moment.

Sony managers surely have serious mental health problems whenever they cancel good productions like this one and keep wasting money on atrocious ones like the awful Robocop reboot an the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot.

Well I doubt it has to do with Internet buzz. They can directly see how many times its been viewed.

reply

Fortunately the viewing metrics are different for this show.

No they can't.

I think you are in the minority in that thinking. This is not what i would consider a "good production"

reply

Methinks thou dost misconstrue the meaning of the word "minority". If you are the only dissenting opinion on the page, then it is YOU, my friend, that is in the minority!

Seems they announced season 2 pretty quick after season 1, so getting concerned that season 3 wont happen. Stumbled across this show and after a shaky start really got into it. But yeah not looking good, hard to find information about this show on the internet.

So yeah sorry guys, seems when i get into shows they get cancelled.

reply

So it's your fault then.

When they started shoving plots into the final 4 episodes, i just knew it meant there wasn't going to be a season 3. And let's face it, the show lost alot of it's charm without Eddie Izzard.

reply

Yes Powers is canceled, a pity i liked season 2 more then season 1.

Well given that was Bendis, who wrote the comics and literally owns the property (along with the artist), he'd be well placed to know.

So I guess we'll never get to see the Aliens-give-Walker-storyline (they pick him to be Earths Guardian, but he can only use his powers to protect the planet when they activate him, otherwise he has to just not use them, even if it means letting someone die). And Deena disappearing for a year and becoming an underground vigilante power that goes around killing bad guys Punisher style. Also the whole "FBI is entirely threaded with Powers" storyline that they were hinting at. In the comic, everyone becomes FBI agents for a while when they Federalise the Powers Division.

The show suffered from basically no support (I wouldn't know it existed if I wasn't a fan of the comic, and I am literally a comic nerd that watches comic shows (Cage, Alias, Agents of Shield, Flash, Arrow etc etc). It also kind of sucked that they gave it so little budget for special effects. It held up because the acting was great (it felt like they were given a lot of lee-way in this regards, and shows tend to benefit from letting the actors inhabit their characters), but up against the likes of Agents of Shield or Flash, with really solid CGI, it would be easy to dismiss it if you weren't pre-disposed to give it a chance.

Still, at least it got further than Global Frequency managed.
