Is this the worst and most overrated SNL Alumni film ever?
Seriously this movie is hardly funny and the story not even that compelling. How is it even rating at 6.1 is beyond comprehension.

shareIt's rated at 6.1 because a lot of people liked it. Different people like different things. It's not the funniest movie ever made but a lot of people found it enjoyable to watch.

^This. I never get the people that come on the boards of movies they didn't like. We all have movies we like and don't like. It doesn't make sense for anyone to waste his or her time going on the page of a movie he or she hated to then tell other people that they should hate it too. I don't know. I guess I will never get it.
share^Exactly. I just don't understand people who think their time has been wasted watching a certain movie/tv show and then they waste more time bitching about it on these boards. It just seems like a really weird thing to do tbh, I would never waste more of time on something that I already felt had wasted enough of my time. Meh, like you said, don't get it and I never will.

Exactly. If I don't like a show or movie then I leave it at that. I don't get the point in telling other people I hated it. What's that going to do? Nothing. Other people don't care if I like a movie or not. They're still going to watch it and decide for themselves.
sharePersonally, I don't mind someone coming on and saying that they didn't like something. It's the purpose of a message board, discussion. But the ones that come on and argue with people about why they think it's bad, and try to convince others to hate it, those ones I don't understand.
shareI read the reviews and the message boards to glean detailed information on the reasoning behind the rating. If you want to tell me a movie stinks, give me a cogent, literate reason why. If you want to tell me that a movie is great, tell me why you think that. I was drawn to this particular thread by the expectation of a critical discussion of movies done by SNL cast members, current and retired. As the thread grows, this might yet happen.
I like meat with my whine.
Exactly. It hasn't happened yet because the purpose of it was to just say, "this movie sucked" and that's it.

I've turned off maybe 3 movies in my life. I got one hour in and thought I was close to the end.
Marley and Me was a better comedy.
Fey & Poehler are in no way overrated.
Now, this film isn't all that great. The humor is uneven and the plot is overdone.
The principals do a fine job, but really aren't given a lot to work with.
Not even close. I found it pretty funny. There are a LOT of SNL movies that were just terrible. I mean seriously, we had:
It's Pat
Stuart Saves His Family
Superstar
The Ladies Man
MacGruber
These films were just horrible.
It's Pat and Superstar are fantastic SNL movies!! Molly Shannon was hugely underrated. She committed to using her body like Farley did and it was hilarious.
Are they the best? Probably not. I'd say Caddyshack, Animal House, etc. are high up there but I don't think Pat & Superstar belong on the *beep* list lol.
MacGruber was heinous and I freaking love Will Forte.
They belong on my terrible list. I thought they were horrible films.
shareWill Ferrell has yet to make a watchable movie. Steve Carell just made his first watchable live action movie, The Big Short, so there's still hope that Ferrell will be offered a script where he is not a buffoon.
shareYou didn't think Old School and Stranger than Fiction were watchable?
And I think Steve Carell has made some good live-action movies, like Little Miss Sunshine and Dan in Real Life. No, they aren't The Godfather, but they are certainly "watchable."
You forgot Night at the Roxbury!
shareI Would say "underrated" as F. U. C. K.
