The Character Luke was very undeveloped (Spoilers)

The character Luke was very under developed, in fact he was so under developed that it just took me out of the story.

If you look at the other four, you had:

1. Vincent-Who was a sex addict that wanted to sleep with any women regardless of who she was related to.

2. Chris-Who was stuck in a bad relationship with his wife, who fell for a prositute whom he had more than connection with than his wife.

3. Marty-Who was a loud mouth party boy, whose wife left him when she found out he was cheating.

4. Phil-The half Brother of Chris who is a drug addict, women abuser, marrying into a wealthy family to only screw it up.

5.Then there is Luke- Who was just boring and stuck in a boring relationship,

I also felt Luke was not as developed as the others for the following reasons:

1. Luke sort of had a thing for Sarah even though it was never indicated on screen, after the San Diego night, the audience never saw him have communication with her or sleep with her.

2. The audience never got a reason why he was video tapping the others or what his intentions were.

3. Why would the others would side with Luke instead of Vincent when they found out that he was taping them. They also never questioned him on what he was going to do with the rest of recordings that he did not turn into the police. They basically just roughed him up and then went along with his plan.

4. Why didn't the police press Luke on why he was taping Vincent and what he was going to do with the recordings that he gave to the police.

5. Lastly, why were the other three not arrested as accomplices in the blackmail of Vincent and the murder of Sarah?

The whole Luke story line felt under developed and forced as a way to come to some sort of closure to the film. I think if Luke was reworked it would have be a different film and more intense, basically it felt like Luke was plugged in to move the plot along.

Yeah, I liked the storyline much better when it was implied that Luke was secretly in love with Vincent. I don't buy him falling for some random blonde who he barely knew. Her ass wasn't that great. 

Her ass wasn't that great

Who could concentrate on her ass (which was kinda big) with that horrible bleach blonde dye job? Was it to make us think that it was Chris' whore who was cuffed to the bed because that's what I though at first.

That's a good enough reason for me to look at her ass (wasn't that big, it was just right) Her hair was blonde? LOL 😀

reply

Thats what i believe the dye was for to make it hard to tell the two females apart at first, because the second you know its not anne, that eliminated chris as having much to do with it as he never knew her

They actually explained a good amount of this in regards to Luke:

1. Luke sort of had a thing for Sarah even though it was never indicated on screen, after the San Diego night, the audience never saw him have communication with her or sleep with her.

I think that was the point, it was an attempt to swerve the audience. They were hinting at Luke being interested in Vincent, but in fact he liked Sarah the whole time.

2. The audience never got a reason why he was video tapping the others or what his intentions were.

They stated in the film he only filmed Vincent. Chris said this to Luke towards the end. He was only taping Vincent to watch Sarah.

3. Why would the others would side with Luke instead of Vincent when they found out that he was taping them. They also never questioned him on what he was going to do with the rest of recordings that he did not turn into the police. They basically just roughed him up and then went along with his plan.

They all thought Luke was taping all of them at the time. They thought he was trying to be faithful to his wife, and was jacking it to all of them cheating. They all got annoyed with it, but as soon as Luke showed the things Vincent did to all of them, their anger quickly swifted to Vincent.

4. Why didn't the police press Luke on why he was taping Vincent and what he was going to do with the recordings that he gave to the police.

They show this quickly so it can be easily missed, but when they drug Vincent and put him in the bed with Sarah. They put all the CDs in his hand to make it look like Vincent was filming himself with all the girls.

5. Lastly, why were the other three not arrested as accomplices in the blackmail of Vincent and the murder of Sarah?

At the end they stated Phillip was awaiting a trail since he was the one who actually killed her. Chris did not figure out Luke killed her until afterwards when the cop asked him a few questions at the end he was able to piece it together. I believe the cop questioned there being no suicide note, which Luke was suppose to leave.

I actually think Luke was the most developed character The other four guys were sort of stock characters. (Vincent the arrogant womanizer, Marty the loud-mouth slob, Chris the sensitive nice guy, and Phillip the psychopath). It turned out that the whole plot was driven by Luke and what made him tick.

I actually thought Luke was going to confess to Chris in the end that indeed Chris's suspicion that he has the hots for Vincent was correct then he did a u turn and it was Sarah he actually liked.I honestly thought through out the whole movie that luke was into Vincent so I think they did a good job at making the viewers assume one thing when in fact it was the opposite
