Reasonably Entertaining But TV Quality Dumbness
The premise was good. An excellent cast (surprisingly so) and a reasonably fun romp. The problem was it felt like an episode from a detective TV show rather than a movie. I suspect it would also be an enjoyable book too but certainly not a movie. Too parochial, too limited, too many contrivances.
Not brilliant but I enjoyed it overall and certainly wasn't bored. Again, I have to say the cast was superb (how they got so many good actors for such a small, plodding whodunit with so many holes, I don't know).
Far too many contrivances and dumb stuff to make for a good film. A passable TV one-off maybe but that's it. Let's frame Vincent for... being present at the world's most unconvincing suicide. Sigh. She cuts her wrist with one hand then writes some Latin with the blood as it gushes out... also with one hand.
Too much dumbassery to be a really good film but reasonably watchable stuff.
I'd recommend it for a boring Sunday afternoon.
