Out of all of the guys, the least guilty was Vincent!

And he's the only one awaiting trial at the end of the movie?

Hell, he wasn't even there that morning. He was telling the truth when he said he ended the affair with the blonde.

If James Mardsen's character did indeed "tell the cops everything" as he admitted on the balcony at the end, then the only thing Vincent is guilty of is massive amounts of adultry--Hardly a jail-able offense.

Whereas the other 3 guys are guilty of conspiring to frame their friend for murder, and mutilation of a dead body.

Am I missing something?

Wasn't Philip the one who stayed behind to pose Sarah's body while the rest of them went to out to establish their alibis (in other words, slit her wrists and actually killed her)? Didn't he also agree to the plan of framing his friend for murder? Raping the prostitute, doing coke... He's not an angel.

My apologies, I meant Vincent (Karl Urban's character) not Phillip.

I thought James Marsden's character has some throw away lines at the end of the movie. He mentioned that Phillip was awaiting trial and that the only thing Vincent's wife let him keep was the loft itself. So I have no idea what James Marsden and Eric Stonestreet weren't being tried for conspiracy, but the writers did attempt to tie it all together with a neat little bow at the end.

^This. Only Philip got in legal trouble.

It didn't say Vincent was facing charges. It said Phillip was.
