how did Vincent know Latin?

Why?

Did you actually watch the movie? He said quite clearly that he took it in college.

He had to take it for med school.

Chris knew Latin. Not Vincent.

One thing I wondered is how Philip knew Latin, or why he'd be inclined to scrawl a Latin phrase at the crime scene. (None of them asked him to AFAIK, they were upset that he'd cut her.)

You'd almost think he was trying to frame the half-brother (Chris) he's bitter towards....

(And as said, it was Chris, not Vincent, who was shown to know Latin.)

Didn't see this movie yet but I just watched the original (Belgian) movie.
I'm Belgian myself and latin is a pretty common subject in high school here. Our school system is different and although a lot of people drop the subject through the years, there are still enough people who follow 6 years of high school with 4/5 hours latin a week.

The latin sentence isn't difficult at all so it's very possible he could remember enough from high school to translate it.

He didn't, Chris did.
