Curious why IMDB gives it a much better rating.

Because imdb votes are evenly weighted amongst real viewers.
shareThis movie is new. The rating will drop here as well. We have only 2 k votes as of now... however this isnt something new. Theres lots of movies that have higher rating with the audiences and lower with the critics. I will list you just a few examples, but theres thousands really.

Just dont pay as much attention to these ratings. Theyre just something like a general reputation. If something looks interesting to you just watch it and decide for yourself. Also theres lots of fake votes here and lots of critics that are paid, so this is also something to consider.
I'm surprised RT is still a thing really, as it gives absolutely no usable value of scoring.

Fake votes doesn't count much on IMDB, it has an weighing system to counter fake votes.
shareThe real reason for the (relatively) high ratings is that the film came out in Belgium in October, at which time the IMDb users in Belgium cast their votes. For the last three or so months, there have been 1,800 votes, and a rating of 7.1 or so.
Being a remake of a Belgian film, made by the same director (a popular character in Belgian media), the people of Belgium are not the most objective audience. As more and more Americans cast their vote, the rating will go down over the next few weeks.
Its a good thriller, who done it type of film. People are giving this film too much crap. Will it win an Oscar? No. Is it a worthy, tense thriller to see on a Friday night? Yes.

Your right. Most people I spoke to hadn't even heard of the film. Once I told what it was about they were interested. I ever got some people to the theater and they enjoyed it. I liked the ending though....I agree, I didn't know who did it either. I do think there were a bit too many twists.
shareI'm surprised the rating hasn't gone down, but maybe it's just because nobody is seeing it. It's not a 100% awful film, but the plot is kind of ridiculous and some of the acting was really tacky in it. Cheap entertainment, nothing more or less.
shareNormally I don't agree with imdb voters as everyone can vote and I bet 12yearold girls vote for their favorite movies most of the time crappy movies.
But this time I agree with the rate. 6.4/10 is very good. I rated the film 6/10 but if I could I would have given it 6.5/10
I hadn't watched the original but it was quite surprising and thrilling. I only wish there was more nudity. I mean it is a sexy thriller.
Is that what this was?
No wonder I found this movie pointless! They didn't have much of the only possible selling point (sex) since the plot was flimsy, the acting was awful, and the characters were insufferable!
I don't trust paid critics, they have slammed films which I have actually enjoyed. I really enjoy IMDB reviews, you get an eclectic view plus they review the actual film not just brush it off. Some people may like slapstick others may not.

It's just a film!! Chilllllllllll
I agree. I think the ratings of IMDB are much more representative than those of Rotten Tomatoes. If IMDB rates a movie 6/10 I know what I can expect. This site has always been my first reference.
shareEver since The Lone Ranger, I stopped paying attention to critics and wannabe critics at RT.
The majority of the time, IMDB members get it right with their votes
Because imdb users aren't the sharpest tools in the shed. The movie is a good sleep aid though.
