Justifying catatonic stupors/ nervous breakdowns in candidates

McCain's campaign decided to stick with the catatonic stupor / nervous breakdown candidate. This was crazy! In one no stress and non clinical environment a doctor hired to secretly observe her said based on her behavior at a BBQ she wasn't half bad because of a recent birth and son at war! But Schmidt Wallace witnessed nervous breakdown and catatonic stupors. They should have immediately demanded her removal and resigned from the campaign rather than put her in charge of nuclear weapons potentially. It goes so beyond common sense not to remove her? Why would anyone oppose removing someone from a ticket if hey were having catatonic stupors or McCain gettin to the point where he hired a doctor to secretly observe her for mental illness.

Sarah Palin was the biggest joke of a vice presidential candidate ever. Hopefully, such a travesty will never happen again, but then again, they ARE the Republican party, and now they've also been infiltrated by the lunacy of the tea party.
