This story makes me blame everybody but Palin

If everyone else around her were such experts why ask her to run? Why not make Nicolle Wallace run if they wanted a woman? She actually knew about politics. The reasoning doesn't add up.

The problem as I see it is that they didn't test Palin's knowledge and competence before asking her to run, right?

reply

The problem is they did find out she was incredibly stupid after they picked her but before she was announced. Before she even did the convention speech. They knew immediately of her extreme stupidity and they all did nothing? You are right there were other women they knew were intelligent even before she was exposed so publicly as being so stupid. They all knew? They had great opportunity to drop her from the ticket.

reply

The movie makes it pretty clear - the GOP wanted a "Game Changer," a female.

Not many viable GOP women out there who are absolutely pro life and anti science.

reply

This is wrong. There were many women who were pro life and anti science with more experience and vetting than palin. Musgrave of Colorado would have been perfect! So would have Bachman. Tennessee rep Marsha Blackburn. Many choices!

reply

Bachmann?? Surely you jest.

reply

They chose Palin? Obviously there was no standard! So why not Bachmann? Who at least dealt with DC press for a little while. Was from a state with some variety and population!

reply

I don't know this Musgrave woman, but I can NOT believe you think either Michelle Bachmann or Marsha Blackburn would have been solid choices. They're both absolute nutjobs who have no business being in our politics. Michelle B belongs in an asylum, and Marsha Marsha Marsha belongs in a more secure asylum. Based on those two, I'd have to imagine this Musgrave brawd belongs right next to either of the other two.

reply

McCain chose Sarah palin who he had a doctor secretly observe because he was getting reports palin was mentally ill so obviously there was no standard. Musgrave, Blackburn and Bachman were all in Washington as congresswomen and as far as I know no secret doctor observations were done of them!

reply

They were trying to win the election, and they knew Palin would bring in a lot of votes. They also felt that Palin would unify "the base" because of her extreme right-wing beliefs. Picking her was a gamble, and they knew it, but they were a wee bit desperate.

reply

After watching it I actually felt somewhat bad for her. They chose to pick Palin and suffered the consequences. Palin was Palin. Like her of hate her, she stayed herself and its why she clashed with them. They pumped her up, convinced her they believed in her when they didn't. She wasn't ready for it and we saw the result of their failure in doing their research. Completely McCain's teams fault for choosing her.

reply

Not just choosing but keeping. They were all aware within days that she was stupid.

reply

True. Guess they wanted theatrics more than substance.

reply

Completely McCain's teams fault for choosing her.
This is my opinion too.
After watching the movie I feel bad for her but I also like her although she did many things wrong; she was just not up to this VP thing.

reply

The movie is pretty clear that not only is politics wrong for her with all her catatonic stupors and nervous breakdowns maybe she should have been in a mental hospital.

reply

She wasn't vetted, period. She was likable and a looker and popular. They wanted a `superstar` like Obama.

reply

People like Wallace (or all the other handlers in the movie) don't run for office - they are much more comfortable behind the scenes.

They did consider other women but they all had "problems" like being pro-choice. And in the end, when they decided they needed a bold, game changing choice (one might say a Hail Mary) there was very little time to vet her. All the people they vetted properly and ahead of time were safe, boring picks like Romney or Pawlenty.

reply

What a bunch of crap most of these comments are. Palin was no more "stupid" than Obama. The difference between them was that the liberal media did a hatchet job and her while glorifying him and refusing to report on his stupid remarks. Few people know that Obama said he'd been to 57 states, that Europe was a "country", or that he pronounced "corpsman" as "corpse-man" twice in one speech. Go to YouTube and look up "Obama lost without his teleprompter" and tell me when Palin sounded that bad.

As for Ms. Wallace, she was deliberately sabotaging Palin's campaign by being hostile Katie Couric around constantly at the wrist possible times. They never show that in the movie.

reply

Palin no more stupid then Obama, ohw please. If you believe this, you need a brain transplant...

reply

If you think Obama is stupid then you need to a time out. You may not agree with him but he is not idiot by any means.

reply

He shows there is intelligent incompetence as well as stupid incompetence
