Did Reagan really state that pollution was caused by trees?!!!!!

Then every criticism I've heard of him being an empty suit (an actor playing the part of president for the powers behind him) are true.

How could someone so STUPID ever get that far? Because he looked good on TV and could act? No wonder Palin looked up to him.

reply

In the tv movie The Reagans (2003) they show him as an ignorant person somehow, people who have suggested him for presidency wanted him to be that naive so they can use him as they want.

Information on the web confirm that he said trees cause pollution, but at that time those stupid sayings could easily pass unnoticed, there was no youtube, no social media, no those things...

reply

Reagan said a dumb thing but the movie shows Palin having nervous breakdown and catatonic stupors. SO even if she got comfort from Reagan saying a stupid thing the issue was not stupidity but Palin's mental illnesses that had Schmidt hire a doctor to secretly observe her. Reagan had been a governor for 8 years and was governor of California as well as a conservative leader for decades.

Well like I stated, Reagan knew how to play the part down pat since he:
- Had lots of practice (tv, governor)
- Had TALENT (he was a GOOD actor and had charisma)
- Knew to be likeable and non confrontational (even his critics have to admit he just knew how to deflect and wove/weave out of hot spots like a champ, and had a thick skin).

Unlike Palin.

I mean there's only so much stupidity a presidential candidate can get away with before becoming a liability, especially if such person cannot stand the slightest critical opinion/review.

He was actually correct. Do any of you know how to research things? In hot weather, trees release volatile organic hydrocarbons including terpenes and isoprenes - two molecules linked to photochemical smog. In very hot weather, the production of these begins to accelerate.

That study came up years after Regan said that. And it's only talking about specific & partial cases related to hot weather. And you're actually convinced that Regan knew what he was talking about back at the time?

He said "Trees cause more pollution than automobiles do"!!!! this is an infinite stupidity!!! Trees and plants are probably the most important weapon against pollution!

And that is not the only stupid thing he said or done...
