topmovie, any more films like this?

This director is brave. He could have told this story about universal struggle everywhere. By choosing to take us to this new cine territiore we get a broader horizon of how we all are connected.
Great direction and cinematography
Any comparable film suggestions?

Try the Korean film The Yellow Sea.

I think that 7 Cajas (a movie from Paraguay) is on the same level.

reply

I would be interested in answers too.
I love gritty South East Asia or East Asia movies about life.

I was going to mention the YELLOW SEA, but it was mentioned above.
There are alot of KOREAN films which are similar films although most are where the protagonist is a gangster or some youth.

I can also think of (along the lines of that "constant tension/fear of dying in guetto" feel)
- Tropa de elite 1 & 2
- The raid (amazing...)
- Judge Dredd (2013)
- Drug War (Chinese film. GREAT)

The Raid.

Vietnamese "Cyclo"

Try Manila in the claws of light

Two movies in the same genre I would recommend, both set in Manila, are:

Shackled by Lawrence Fajardo (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/131832-posas?language=en) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2245764/)
Graceland by Ron Morales (http://www.thecinematheque.ca/graceland) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2131523/)

Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll check them all out starting with matthew5000's recommendations.

Global Warming, it's a personal decision innit? - Nigel Tufnel

reply

This film is good but as a Filipino the script isn't realistic for me. Plot is believable but most of the time watching I can picture a more realistic discussion / script in my head.

I suggest you see "ON THE JOB".

reply

It may not be about asia but I would recommend Cop Car. It is a movie that I think goes the same length as this one.
