I finished season 5 not long ago without even realising it! I can't believe that is the end of the season!? I just thought it was the end of just any other episode... What's the story?

shareProbably for the last time. The ratings for the show dropped another chunk this last season. Dennings and Behrs original contracts have probably run out, and Dennings likely wants to get back to making movies while she's still got a few years of sex appeal left. The scripts can't limp along on vulgar shock value much longer, plus the plot development of Max's L.A. boyfriend smacks of being a series-wrap plot arc for next season: they build the cupcake shop into a burgeoning empire and get rich, with Caroline becoming the bakery queen Ray Kroc while Max ends up going west to be with Mr. Hunky Lawyer.
That's if they still have an audience when they come back in the fall. Frankly, if they don't start throwing in more lingerie shots of Caroline and boob shots of Max they may not last for another full season.
