Well 2BG jumped the shark so the end must be near

At this point its just stupid for them to live in that apartment, to continue to not work at the diner and take so long in opening the desert bar.

with 250k in the bank calling the show 2 BROKE girls no longer applies. And the dynamic of the show has been thrown off with Caroline clearly being the reason for all the good things thats happened for them.

Caroline convinced Max to make a go of the cupcake business
Caroline used her know how to get the stores and stuff for the business
It was Carolines idea for Max to go to school to learn how to make different cakes and stuff
Its Caroline's life story thats the reason for this current windfall of money

The only good thing Max did was take Caroline in the beginning.

the show has run its course its time wrap it up

Don't forget Sophie, who is no spring chicken, getting pregnant. And Max's hot boyfriend who falls in love with her right away and isn't turned off by her acting so uncouth and her very negative attitude (IRL he would tire of it quickly). I started finding last season a little difficult to watch and this season having to talk myself into doing it but now am definitely done and will be cancelling my season pass after the finale.

I don't know where they are going with Randy..but good lord, as long as he keeps his shirt off I really don't care..lol
Max doesn't have a good track record for having any longterm relationships, so I don't hold out too much hope for him. Unless they have intentions of marrying them towards the end of the series, thus them not being "broke" anymore.

The Sophie pregnancy is just stupid. As I said in another post, it was either the episode right after the pregnancy announcement (I am almost 100% it was) or the second one..that she walks in and says to everybody, while she is rubbing her belly "check out my baby bump" and I believe saying she was 20 weeks. She looked more like 8 months to me. I can't believe they still cram her into that wardrobe! Funny thing though, some of her dresses are really cute (minus the shrugs), and would look nice on the right body. They are certainly too formal though as well.

I respect your opinions on those topics, but let me add a few rebuttlesfrom my perspective.

Living in the apartment still isn't stupid. They probably pay very little in rent. Simply having money in the bank wouldn't justify moving to a more upscale place at the moment. Usually a small business isn't profitable for at least a year.

A small business takes a very long time to plan, execute and run with success. I don't think it is taking them too long to open it at this point (although I don't know how much time has actually passed since the movie money and decision to open the desert bar.

Again, staying in the current apartment makes sense at the moment. The $250k in the bank is what is funding the desert bar, at least that has been my understanding. In which case, their financial situation has not improved as of yet, so they should stay there, to avoid rent increases, moving expenses and things like deposits. As long as they can keep up with the diner job and paying their usual bills, they shouldn't upset the apple cart. Owning a dessert bar really doesn't qualify for the removal of the "Broke" in the title, not yet at least.

I don't really think that the dynamic has been thrown off too far. I would agree that Caroline is usually the brains of the opperation and usually keeps a level head, whereas Max just goes with the flow of things, while caroline stresses.. I don't think Caroline is the only reason anything good happens to them. She may have pushed Max into pastry school, it was Max that put forth the work (although if I remember, Caroline worked in the office so they got a discount on tuition). They were raised totally different, Carolines family putting emphesis on education. Max does need the push though, it seems she would have been happy to still be in the status quo, living alone and baking at night to sell only a few cupcakes from the diner.

Max has done more good things than just taking in Caroline, but where would Caroline be had it not been for that? She wouldn't be on Wall St. as she has said her name is toxic and she would never get hired. Seems like they just have a give/take friendship.

I'm not convinced the dessert bar is even going to happen, or that it will last. I think Caroline is goin to get hosed once the movie about her life hits theatres. I think it will make her look bad and she will regret ever doing it. She signed a contract, which probably allows them to take creative liberties with her story.

I don't disagree that it should be winding down (maybe one more season), but I have actually liked quite a few episodes from this season.
Sophie being pregnant makes me cringe...it seemed like it was only one or two episodes after she announced the pregnancy, she walked into the diner telling people to check out her "baby bump" with a refrence to being I think 20 weeks along...yet she looked about 8 months along. It shocked me that it was handled that way.

I agree.

The only good thin Max did was take Caroline in the beginning.

I would think that's enough.
She saved her from being raped and murdered in the streets.

I think Caroline needs to spend the rest of her life making Max's life better in appreciation for being alive, because of her.

Okay, first off, it's a fictional TV show, maybe let's not look too deeply at this. I think that sitcoms are more enjoyable when one doesn't dissect them so much. 2 Broke Girls is neither a reality show nor a documentary.

But, I'll play. About the apartment. It's a cheap apartment in NYC where they are able to keep a pet horse. Not a kitty, not a doggie, a freaking horse! It's been well established that both Caroline and Max love Chestnut. A one-time windfall of $250,000 wouldn't last all that darned long in NYC. Likely, any other place that would allow them to keep Chestnut would cost infinitely more. They'd run through that money fast and eventually lose Chestnut if they moved to a more expensive place that they couldn't sustain.

And as for that $250,000, judging by the total at the end of the most recent show, they've already run through $200,000 renovating their new shop. I'll just accept that rather than dissecting why it would have cost that much. So, they've only got $50,000 left already anyways....

I don't know what the writers have planned, but since the show is called 2 Broke Girls and the whole theme thus far has been that they struggle to have two nickels to rub together most of the time, I suspect something will happen that returns them to being fully broke again soon enough.

But again, 2 Broke Girls is a silly fictional sitcom. Consider just sitting back and enjoying the jokes without worrying about the premise too much. It would be easy to pick this show apart by applying the rules of reality to it but that would take all of the fun out of it. 2 Broke Girls is for fun.

So are cartoons. In fact they should all just go home and be replaced by one.

I don't disagree with the points you made, but it was actually Max's cupcake recipe that got the whole ball rolling in the first place. Without that, there would be no cupcake business for Caroline to contribute her business sense to.

Max is the one who set all of this off, but I do agree with you that pretty much everything that followed has been almost completely thanks to Caroline.

I think they've given up on having a coherent story, and have morphed into the 2016 version of Laverne And Shirley. Total slapstick.

Also, I love Jennifer Coolidge, but why the hell does she get applause whenever she appears?? (I have no doubt if I were to scroll through the messages, this has been noted 100 times).

I thought Max made her cupcakes partly from a ready mix?

reply

Max originally combined two different boxed mixes (she said it was only when she was too tired to make them from scratch) but Caroline pointed out that they couldn't sell 'Max's Homemade Cupcakes' if that was the case. Since then, we've seen Max making them from her own recipe anytime it shows her baking. She even made kosher cupcakes in one episode.

Max also went to a pastry school for a while and learned more decorating techniques (the cupcakes they've shown on the rack in the shop and the cake dome in the diner have been fancier since then) as well as learning how to make other desserts, like the tart she had to make as an entry exam, as well as meringues and a tirimisu.

I disagree with the people who say its been Caroline doing everything since Max took her in. I think they both contribute about equally. Caroline seems to be the 'idea woman' while its usually Max who puts the most work into making the ideas happen.

Caroline came up with the new price for the cupcakes and the idea of the shop, but Max was already selling them for extra cash and she actually makes the cupcakes (a business degree is pretty useless if you don't have a product to sell). She also worked just as hard as Caroline in getting both the original failed shop and the new window/back room set up.

Speaking of the original shop, Max said from the start that they couldn't afford it and she was right. When the puppet guy sued them, Caroline had the idea to use Max's knowledge to win a bar trivia contest but it was Max who ultimately won the money and then came up with a solution when the guy tried to go back on the deal. Also, Caroline was ready to quit the business entirely when the original shop failed and it was Max who didn't give up on it.

Max was the one who found the pastry school pamphlet and introduced the idea of going there, she just lacked confidence in her abilities and couldn't figure out a way to afford it. Ultimately, she got herself accepted with her talent and passion. Caroline worked to come up with a solution to the funding issue, but then wanted to back out as soon as the work she would be doing didn't turn out to be as fun or fancy as she had expected. Max had to put her foot down on leaving and eventually Caroline stayed to flirt with the chef. Caroline whining about only doing it for Max was stupid, in my opinion, because Max honing her talent and learning new skills would only help the cupcake shop they both own/operate.

It was jumping the shark about five seconds into the first episode.
