I agree with this article for the most part. That said, to me, AHS is one of those shows where even at its worst, it's still intriguing.

To kind of add to the article's point, similarly, I feel that the stories often try to spread themselves too thin and be too sprawling, which I feel started with Roanoke. Halfway through Roanoke, we get a completely tonal reset and narrative shift. In Apocalypse (which I loved) we were in a flashback for so long, a few episodes, that it was easy to forget we were in a flashback. In the middle of 1984, we start getting a bunch of time jumps. Double Feature is literally split in two. NYC, they tried to do the story in a way where you were wondering for a bit how these storylines would tie together. And now Delicate, through no fault of its own, will be in two parts.

It's as if they no longer trusted themselves to come up with a story that they could linger in, like Murder House and Asylum especially. Yes, I know, those had flashbacks and time jumps as well, but they weren't nearly so prevalent.
