Ryan screwing up Coven Mythology

Ryan Murphy really screwed with the mythology of Coven. So... the original Supreme is the Witch of the Woods. What happened to Tituba? Wasn't she supposed to be the one who crowned the first Supreme?

Also... I will never forgive him for what he did to Queenie.

Ugh. Just... stop. Stop screwing established storylines up!

Well it was Marie Laveau who said it was Tituba, Marie wasn't part of the witches(she was a voodoo witch and she wasn't raised on the academy), she wasn't reliable.

What's really worst is the fact Gaga's character is immortal, but if she's a supreme she should have died, when a supreme dies the power completely goes to the next one.

Turn it up hot, lovin' you is free"

reply

Queenie was an heir to Tituba. She states in the first episode that it technically makes her part of the Salem coven.

I agree with the immortal part. I thought Gaga's witch was a ghost. I was cool with that in the Coven mythology. Whatever. But all of a sudden she's immortal? :-/

reply

Did they actually say she was immortal or could she have been a ghost? Feel like I missed something.

reply

Maybe she's somehow outside of the line of Supremacy, a'la Buffy in BtVS, or maybe her immortal status prevented her from dying and her magic just weakened as her Supreme status was passed onto her descendants. Isn't the Supremacy just a force that amps up their innate magic and health, eventually burning both out as it transfers to a younger witch?

It'd explain why she didn't really do anything offensive with her magic. I mean, Shelby basically just smacked her around like a dog that just pissed the carpet and Scathach teleported away; a dying Fiona decapitated a minotaur, so something's not adding up.

"I'm a dog trainer who likes to garden, so I know a thing or two about b*tches and hoes."

reply

Wait, did they explicitly say the Witch of the Woods was a Coven Witch / Supreme? Because they seemed to have nothing in common.

reply

Ryan Murphy did, yes.

reply

What makes you think that was his idea? I think he only wrote two episodes this season.

reply

A recent interview with Ryan where he confirms it.

reply

Ah right. Do you have a linky? I think I might have seen it but I dont recall him saying it was his idea. He just likes shooting off his mouth.

I think your avatar should be of your bad puppy.

Thanks champ.

Ryan is the blabbermouth spokesperson for the show so he gets the blame for everything (which is fine because I'd like to shove a sock in his mouth) but he isnt saying it was his idea. He's just an attention whore and will say anything to keep his name in print. Feel free to virtual cut his tongue off with Spalding's garden shears, though.

* Murphy confirmed that Gaga’s Coven-infused persona is, in fact, the Original Supreme, adding that he plans to bring the character back in a future AHS season that will “return to Coven.”

* The plot of next season’s AHS will not be shrouded in secrecy the way Season 6’s was. “We’re going to announce [the premise] in the spring,” said Murphy. “We’re not doing a secrecy thing, but [next season] does have a big hook behind it.” And, according to Murphy, it involves several Freak Show characters.

reply

To me it doesn't matter. If they did not show it during the season or delve into the lore then it doesn't matter. The witch herself barely played any major point

Avada Kedavra muthaf...

Scathach is probably the mother of the Salem witches. Magic wasn't just infused in her but to her potential offspring, like Tituba and Queenie. She *beep* some randos, queefed out a few kids, raised them in the wild until some guys took them in. Eventually, her descendants met up in Salem and with Tituba's help, formed a coven and learned other ways in which to harness their magic.

How can Gaga's character be the original Supreme, when she was simply an actress playing a role in Roanoke, that makes no sense to me.

They may be bringing Gaga back to be the original Supreme, however it wouldn't be the same the character as Roanoke.

reply

Gaga was playing an actress playing the role of the witch, the same as all the other reenactors. What doesn't make sense there? The real one was seen with Matt right before Shelby killed him.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

reply

which was smart of them because now they can get any actress to play the REAL witch and not be bound by gagas schedule.

reply

Ever since Murphy said all series are linked, he's been trying to shoehorn characters and links to other seasons in for the sake of it. The only time it really worked was with Pepper in Freak Show, otherwise it has just felt forced the last two seasons.

reply

I tend to agree with you.

reply

Yeah it does tend to feel shoehorned, like "wink wink hey audience get this reference?" as opposed to what would be right in the story. I didn't get why Queenie came back to be murdered when that didn't seem to add anything to the story. Lana interviewing Lee also seemed forced into the story.
