Was the colony basically a cult?

That's the impression I got from Roanoke. The colonists were in a sacrificial cult. Why not just name the season cult?

And also too reminiscent of The Path.

I like Roanoke (although for some reason that escapes me I pronounce it Roanok-ee)

I always thought Roanoke was too specific. I mean Hotel wasn't named AHS: Cortez.
