Meryl's words were beautiful, but it always seems funny hearing those sentiments from Hollywood...a world where everyone is judged and ranked by superficial traits. Friends who worked in "lower" positions as extras, caterers or assistants would often come home from sets in tears after being publically humiliated at work for crimes as petty as saying "You got it, boss" when a beloved celebrity told him how he would like his eggs prepared. Another friend was yelled at by a director, then made fun of because of her stutter. Another friend was pubically told by a entertainer how many times he could buy and sell someone like him. It is common for something as simple as looking an A-list actor directly in the eyes to be a fireable offense.
I wish Meryl had been strong enough to direct her speech at the hate which exists in all of us, rather than going for the easy mark like Trump.
I was quite surprised/disappointment in her comment that actors are different to the rest of us. No Meryl, your sht stinks just like anyone else. Even the queen of england farts.
My brother works in the industry. He has to apologise for staring at some faces when he needs to get a light reading. God forbid the director of photography upsets hollywood royalty.
