Lange played the same character in each season

I'm not trolling, and I did like the show better when she was on it, but she also talked in the same breathy voice, made the same expressions, the same hand movements etc. in each season. It was more like same character, different wardrobe

reply

Yeah, the bad German accent was so distracting in Murder House. ::snicker::

reply

Every actor pretty much uses mostly the same facial expressions and body movements in every TV series that they're on.

Unless they hide their accent or are asked to change it they talk the same a lot too.

reply

I agree. I think the one person who was a completely different character in every season is Sarah Paulson.

I love trolls, they taste like chicken.

reply

And Kathy and Denis.

That's her signature but to confuse that with every character being the same is your inability to see the different characters. They were all very different.

reply

On paper they're different. Bitchy neighbor, pious nun, selfish and egotistical witch, and ambitious cabaret performer. But I can't help but agree with OP. Constance and Fiona were nearly identical in performance and Elsa was Jude 2.0. They all were older and bitter women who had some secret agenda. That's probably the writers' fault, but I don't think Jessica did anything substantial to make them completely different like Kathy. After four seasons of that it became a little redundant. And I hate to admit it but I feel Joan Crawford will fall into the same category. That being said, I do think she is an incredible actress.

reply

If you put them all in a room together I would think they were all different people. I find them totally different. It's just her mannerisms that are the same. Unlike someone like Denis, she's not a chameleon.

reply

Unlike someone like Denis, she's not a chameleon.

Agreed. She's not a character actor. She's a thespian.

reply

Ha. I was having a rewatch of the first season of entourage. Johnny Drama was most offended that someone called him a thespian.

reply

I've never seen it. There's something about the actors that annoy me.

reply

Probably because the characters are supposed to be annoying, Gabe. Vacuous Hollywood ass hats.

reply

I guess. It's one of my cousin's favorite shows so I'll probably check it out.

reply

That's probably why she left the show.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Can't forget the constant chain-smoking in every scene.

reply

Well I agree with you, kind of. All her characters were bitches.
But I did noticed the clear differents in acting. Her way of talking was actually verry different in each season. Constance was softspoken and her handmovements were verry different compared Jude who acted more strict and less girly. Fiona was verry sarcastic and Elsa really acted like a Diva, overly dramatic with a german accent....
