Anyone know why 'Gill' left the show?

I'm from the states and never saw her before this show but I thought she was really good and wished they'd shown more of her. Wonder why she didn't do the last 3 episodes of the series?

They should give her an own detective show as DCI Gill

Stressed out after thirty years on the job, being kidnapped, and almost killed. Getting to retirement age anyway. Starting to hit the bottle too often. Time to get out.
