I just dug this up after hearing Greg Plageman reference it, all the way back to S3 during Comic-Con Nolan is asked if the Machine will get a voice, and he says, "We're working on the voice thing but you're not going to like how that plays out."

(Always have to think of what a brave thing it was of him and his wife to adopt three children with fatal deceases. Many hollywood actors have adopted children but those are all healthy.)
