Why did she leave?(spoilers)
I'm curious: Why was Carter killed off? Why did Taranji Hansen leave the show?
shareI'm curious: Why was Carter killed off? Why did Taranji Hansen leave the show?
shareHenson made it clear from the beginning that she didn't want to do this show full time, she only wanted to stay a couple seasons, earn a few dollars, and boost her resume. Nolan was fine with that as well
shareTaraji Henson did not leave POI. She was fired by Nolan because he thought Carter being in the picture would somehow ruin his wonderful little Samaritan arc, and the screen apparently wasn't big enough for Carter, Shaw, and Root. The two white guys in the lead weren't going anywhere, and Chapman wasn't either, so that left TPH. Nolan had planned to kill her off from the beginning, and even when seeing how popular the Carter character was, never wavered on that. And no, Empire wasn't even a possibility when Carter was killed off.
Chick
How about when she did a guest spot in S.4 as Reese's imaginary friend, was she on Empire by then ?
shareSo wrong, that it doesn't need explaining.
shareAnother idiot to ignore. OP she left because she wanted something new. Nothing more. The cast and writers loved her then and still do.
shareThey always planned on killing a main character off midway through the show and it was never going to be Caviezel or Emerson because they are the stars, Shahi and Acker had only just been promoted to series regulars 10 episodes prior so that just left Chapman and Taraji. I think they made the right choice. Carter was a good character but I'd have missed Fusco's humour more than Carter's strength and bond with Reese (the latter of which Fusco also had).
And yes, she was on Empire when she made her guest appearance.
Thanks. Just thought it was sad. ðŸ˜î‚‡ I'm assuming it was for dramatic effect?
shareIt was sad, as we all loved the Carter character, but her plan was always for a couple of seasons. Anyway, there were obviously no hard feelings, only in peoples delusional minds, otherwise why would she have come back to do that great episode in season 4. Season 3 was amazing, because it had so many stellar episodes. The big 3 eps when Carter died, led to the introduction of Samaritan, the introduction of Control, and some great great archs. Season 3 is one of my favorites in all of my tv watching history.
sharePlus the HR arc had about run it's course and they were planning new antagonists for the upcoming seasons (turned out to be Vigilance in S.3 and Dominic in S.4)
shareA very logical decision. She died with HR. Episode 10 from season 3 had possible my all time favourite intro. That shot when Reese walks to the flaming car is pure brilliance. Got goosebumps when I saw it.
shareIn that scene, I believe they are playing the song "Hurt" by Johnny Cash (which is now used in the Logan trailer.) I love the intensity of that song.
👿 I know something you don't know ... I am ambidextrous!
I just finished watching the episode where Carter gets knocked off and I have to be honest here - I am very very upset in losing her. She was just as much a part of this great show as Harold and Suit. She was TREMENDOUS. Her evolution was simply outstanding.
I knew once they promoted the two girls someone had to go. Not enough camera to keep, everyone happy and involved. However, if it were up to me, as much as I like Shaw too, I prefer Joss over her.
Now Root is another matter. I FRIGGIN LOVE ROOT!!!!!!!!!!!! She is soooooooooooo good. (Hot too.) lol
I love this show. Cant believe I never watched it until now on Netflix.
Carter.......you are loved and will be DEEPLY missed! (Sniff sniff)
I too loved Carter, but when they added two other women- Root and Shaw- I guess they had enough. I think Shaw is in a better position to help out more joining the team rather than having to always call the cops to help out. It looks weird to see cops doing that all the time.

I thought she asked to be let out of her contract because she got the lead in Empire.
