always in these sort of anime movies...

and SPOILER ALERT...

they start great like this movie especially, very interesting first few minutes, shows a strange girl, she has her own neat place in the hill, it's interesting and great visually, and up to a point the movie is still good, but then it descends into weird, unsettling monster filled thing with unintelligible, metaphorical messages.
Ending in an unbelievable and overly dramatic ending scene that is just stupid.

Unintelligible? Seriously? Good lord, the message in this film was dirt simple. I shudder to think how you'd react to something like "Stalker" or "Persona".

How? Define unbelievable. Define overly dramatic.

The message was actually very clear. They practically spell it out for you. It's all about letting go. They couldn't have made it any clearer.

Whoa, watch the racism. You didn't have to word it like that. There are a million better ways you could have asked the question.
In any case, I didn't think it was a crappy ending. It was a beautiful movie, worthy of Studio Ghibli (I actually though it was when I first saw it). The ending isn't crappy, and it's left open-ended. Asuna got her adventure, and learned to appreciate what she had in life, also she can always go back since Shin gave her the piece of the stone that opens the door to Agartha. Shin was finally able to break away from "shackles" that the Agarthians enforced upon him and follow his own path. Morisaki was finally able to let his wife go and be at peace, but chose to remain behind with Shin. It was a great movie.
