Putting the pathological in pathological lying
Would there even be a show if the creators/writers didn't take characters' lying and aversion to communicate to levels of complete mockery??
Every single person lies even when there's absolutely no rational reason to do so, and whenever there's an opportunity for one character to offer clarity to another... You can rest easy knowing they avoid taking advantage of it like the plague.
