It would've been easier if they just told the truth

Some of the kids on the tapes actually committed criminal acts while the others were just assholes. Why would the latter group not just throw the former under the bus? If all I did was start a rumor or publish someone else's poem without their permission, I'm not going to consider myself in the same boat as a stalker or a rapist. At most, I'd probably get some community service especially since these kids seemed to be pretty privileged. Plus, are colleges really going to reject you for stealing compliment notes for example?

I mean seriously, the only ones who would actually be going to jail before they started trying to cover everything up would be Bryce, Tyler, and possibly Sheri and Justin. Tyler, Sheri, and Justin are underage too, so they probably would've gotten some lenient treatment.

But since they all put so much effort into covering up the tapes, they pretty much made things worse for themselves legally.

Their behavior was strange indeed. They behaved exactly the opposite than people in real life would behave. In real life people snitch on their best friends in an instant, just to get off the hook. Those kids had some sort of omerta (code of silence) going on like they were seasoned criminals. Not realistic at all.

I agree, I think it at least one of them would crack. Honestly, Tyler had the best ideas even if what you did qualified as criminal. I feel that turning Bryce in would have created a situation where all the attention would be on him.

reply

Exactly. And there's the fact that Bryce has TWO rapes under their belt that they know about. Plus, he didn't know about the tapes, they had a major advantage that they could've used to get the heat off of them.

So did Tyler shoot Alex? He did take his photo down in the darkroom.

reply

Most signs point to Alex shooting himself, and Tyler taking his picture down after hearing about it. The point of it was to show how easy it is to overlook someone who is suicidal, but if you go back and watch all the Alex scenes, he was dropping hints about it the whole time.

Yes I think you are right... but Tyler got fed up with being bullied, and said things like "I can defend myself" etc. I know the 2nd season will focus on the trial and the back stories of everyone, including Hannah. I was hoping they wouldnt go for a school shooting storyline with Tyler.

By the way, The actor that played Tyler also played a young Louis CK on the show Louie.. Just a fun fact for ya, lol
