And why is Ferg following the typical movie hero cliche and driving a classic old car as a law enforcement patrol vehicle? And he's not even a cool character, he's the fat dork for comedy relief. A Pontiac Trans Am from the seventies? Ridiculous. And no cop anywhere drives his own personal vehicle while on duty. That's idiotic.

I came to this thread to post another observation about Ferg- when the mob dudes cut him off with the semi, why not drive around them on the right and put that Hemi to use? Neither the semi nor the SUV behind him could have caught up to him, and he could have phoned/radioed for help. He's a nice guy, but often incompetent as a cop.

In Season 1 Longmire actually calls him "The Ferg". The sheriff also says something about how The Ferg was only hired because the sheriff knew his father.
