(SPOILERS) Where did the bomb come from?

Did Mannix/Elias construct it between 1890 and 1942 (when it was placed in that underground vault) using knowledge he'd taken from the future? Or was the bomb itself sent back in time? I don't get it.

He built it. He told his wife many times 'I have other business to attend to' and couple of time it was shown he had some drawings on his desk that showed plans for the vault and bomb. He also bought that bank building at ten times higher price that caused some complaints by his business partners. He had money, influence and knowledge from the future how to build a bomb.

His cult built it with his instructions. They did most of it after his death in 1941. The availability of uranium and the mobile phone ignition switch accommodate this.
