Do you need to watch Yellowstone to understand this?

I might watch this but haven't seen Yellowstone. Do I need to watch YS first?

You do need to watch 1883. That’s the prequel to 1923

Is it actually better to watch 1883 first or just watch 1923 first?

Once you are familiar with the basic premise of Yellowstone, I’d watch 1883 first, then you’ll be able to fully get 1923

I disagree that you need to watch 1883 first. I think you should because it's a great show and it leads into the story of 1923, but you wouldn't be lost or confused if you didn't.
