I watched the show from the very beginning and I don't know that I would ever really label HOD a sitcom. There is certainly drama in season 2 although not as much on the medical front. There is never as much focus on the medical stuff after season 1 and I have never heard if the CW asked them to focus less on that or if it was just the way the EP took the show but if that was one of the things that attracted you to it there is no doubt you will probably be disappointed going forward. I'm not saying there are no medical story lines but it is certainly more relationship based.
The EP was the same the whole way through the series, she's the one who created the show. I'm sure there are writers that came and went throughout the course of the shows run, that's pretty typical, but the creator was there from beginning to end so that's not the cause of any changes.
As for Magnolia, well Season 2 is the high point of her Bluebell exposure. She is only around now and then after that. So I guess that's a plus for you :)
Most fans that I know and from reading on here and other sites, liked season 2 for the most part. I actually think season 2 was probably the best all around season in terms of story lines, execution, etc. but then I wasn't drawn to the show for the medical stuff. I didn't mind the medical stuff but I didn't need it to enjoy the show. Season 3 is when most people who watched the show think the wheels really came off, myself included. They got it back on track for the most part in season 4 but again, there still isn't a whole lot of focus on the practice.
Hope that helps without giving too much away.
