Clueless Couples?

Why do the couples act as though they don't understand the premise of the show? How can they believe that the first property they see is within their budget? Why do they act as though they don't know that the brothers will bring the fixer-upper up to their expectations?

I'm sure they're told to act that way and know it to be the case. There might be a some people here and there who truly haven't seen the show to realize, but the bulk would. Some of the stuff is obviously staged (as with most shows on HGTV), but that's okay... they still try to give us an idea of how it all goes down.

I'm sure the first season had no idea. They probably just asked for ppl who were looking to move in that area & wanted the property brothers expertise & didn't know about the reno. Some episodes are shot way ahead of time & then they choose the order in which to air them later. Most ppl are not good enough actors to pretend to not know. As for the new eps, some ppl might not watch the show. As for others, idk. Just cuz a show's on TV doesn't mean everyone watches it. If you look at teh HGTV castings, some of them are very vague as to what a show is actually about & other's don't even have a show title attached to it at all.

I would think they'd have a long waiting list of people wanting to be on the show because they have watched it. How do they manage to avoid all of these people and instead find home buyers who have never heard of it?
