Why don't they change it up a bit? Variety, please!

The brothers are very likeable guys and I've gotten in to watching the shows, esp the marathons. But it's getting a bit repetitive, same exact script every show. Show the buyers a house wildly out of their price range, then find two houses that can do with some renos. Buy one and reno it, always to the most modern of standards.

I don't think I'm the only one who is not crazy about the latest fads, ie knock down every wall on the main floor to make it one great big noisy space. I myself like separate rooms for separate purposes. Hell I don't even like islands and would NEVER buy a house with an kitchen island. Give me a table and chairs in my kitchen, thank you! And a dining ROOM, and a living ROOM....

So please Mr. Property Brothers, how about a show for the traditionalists in your audience?

You're not the only one who doesn't like open concepts, but you're definitely in the minority.

I think being able to be in the kitchen cooking, but still being able to communicate with others while entertaining is really great. It's so claustrophobic being in all these tiny rooms. It's old school. I think that trend is here to stay.

I just read an article about how there is a backlash against open concept and people are having trouble finding houses with formal dining rooms because everyone is renovating and knocking down walls. I think the pendulum will swing somewhat back the other way.

I think the swing is already happening. A lot of people are getting frustrated with this concept. In my 20s, I could see the appeal of it. Now in my 30s and potentially building a house, I want walls or at least the appearance of room separation. I have three kids and I don't feel the need to keep constant watch over them. Everyone deserves privacy and alone time.

I'm glad to hear that other people don't like the "open concept" either. When someone comes into my living room I don't want them seeing all the way into my messy kitchen.
