They can't find a house fixed up here, but on Buy and Sell they can?

I was watching their other show today, Buy and Sell, and I was wondering how it is that they can find a couple their dream home already fixed up on that show! But then I flip to Property Brothers and the couples give them a budget of $700,000 (same budgets of the Buy and Sell couples) and they act like no house is remotely close to that price range without being a roach and rat infested tear down. I just find it hard to believe to that there is no house even close to being fixed up in that price range, in Canada or America!

Yeah I don't get how they can never find a house within or below budget that doesn't need any work, and of course what needs to be done to the house conveniently takes all the money the couple had left in their budget, seems like the show mainly does California an Canada where the land is sky high an the houses are usually dumps.

Wait a second.. this is a food restaurant we dont serve salad

I love both Property Brothers and Buying and Selling. First off, you have to remember the point of each show, so of course things work out for how the show is supposed to run.

That being said, 2 things: in Buying and Selling often they are shown a house that needs fixing up. (Me, I'd love a combined show where they do the fix up of the old house to sell it and a PB of how they fix up their new house). Just most of the couples choose not to go threw "another reno". Also remember that often in B&S they are looking for new homes that have less of an upgrade then they do in PB. (In B&S most of the time it seems they are moving their kids to a better school). In B&S the people need to move for some reason (otherwise I think 1/2 of them would stay in their newly redone old home.) In PB these are often people buying their first home and they have outrageous wish lists, and no concept of how much it would cost to get what they want, so they do renos so they can get the look they want in their price budge.

And about the fact that the PB house "conveniently takes all the money left" actually if you pay attention a lot of the time they actual either 1: come in under budget (unless some huge surprise shows up) or 2: don't actually do all of the house that needed renoing while they walked threw the house. Like they do the living room/dinning room/kitchen or they do the bedroom/closet/on-suit. I can't think of a show where they do it all. Meaning really, that down the line somewhere that couple is doing a 2nd reno, either themselves or hiring other professionals
