Fixer Upper, Flip or Flop, Property Brothers?

I watch all of these shows and it just crossed my mind that the PB charge the most, but do the least! I love watching the Fixer Upper because they really find the couples nice home and then fix them up even further. Plus they give a budget of $40,000 and fix up more than just 2 main rooms. My new favorite show is Flip or Flop, they go in with complete dumps and fix the WHOLE house up. They can usually fix a whole house in California for $75,000 to $100,000. I've seen episodes of the PB where they have a budget of $100,000 or close and they still only can fix 3 rooms. Maybe it is the materials the PB use or the area they are in, but it just boggles my mind how similar shows have near the same budget and what they can do in a house is completely different. Plus I actually like the other two shows designs for their homes and how they don't get mad when a client asks for something in their home. I feel like the PB get mad when the homeowners asks for new things or a different color for something, like they feel it is their house!

Of the three shows, my current favorite is "Fixer Upper". I especially like the humor in it. Joanna and Chip are down to earth and they make a great couple! And like you said, they don't get mad when a homeowner asks for new things. I also like when they offer three different ideas to use any extra money on something- the renovating prices are so cheap where they live- I would put in more money and take all three! Their design style is fabulous!

The brothers do the whole house as well; it's just that the editing focuses on two or three major rooms. Although the viewers do not see the complete job, it is a complete renovation. Jonathan also works with three crews rotating over full 24-hour days in order to complete the fixes over a shorter period.

As for Flip or Flop, very often Tarek will use cheaper materials unless persuaded otherwise. He tries a lot to get away with laminate flooring, for example. Furthermore, the El Moussas don't have clients to deal with; they merely have to overhaul the houses to make them sellable.

Haven't seen flip flop but I found Fixer Upper good but repetitive. I also found Chip and JoJo annoying after a while and the show focuses too much on them and their farm. I like property brothers just a little more because the bidding seems more realistic and fixer upper has one style only. I will watch out for Flip Flop if its on Netflix. I have become addicted to the shows. But also with Fixer Upper I only cared about the house before and after, everything in between was telling Chip how cute he is.

Flip or flop is about as real as dolly partons Tits..

I've stopped watching any program with the Property Brothers. They're becoming the Bobby Flays/Guy Fieris of HGTV. Their designs are so boring. Same grey paint, same sectional sofas, same granite or marble counters. The thing that really turned me off was their renovation budgets were always the amount the buyer had left after purchasing the house, it was never cheaper. Plus all the problems found after purchase and when demolition started. No house inspection before purchase?

Fixer Upper is okay though her designs are beginning to look the same. I'm tired of hearing about ship lap.

I still watch Flip or Flop though, like the others, their designs are similar in each house. But I like them much better than most of the other flipping shows.

You all are forgetting the most expensive show of them all, Love It or List It 1 and 2. They NEVER and I do mean NEVER get everything done they ask for. They could have a 500k reno budget and I bet Hilary and Jillian would still not be able to do everything on the owners list of must haves.

But Flip or Flop fixes the house to sell, so they make it pretty basic but nice to appeal to a large audience. That's why they can get away with more. I like all the shows, but Fixer Upper would be my favorite and I feel they can get the most done

Flip or Flop is better because they get everything done in a 1/2 hour. Less time for recaps.

I liked Fixer Upper, but the juvenile antics of the husband eventually began to wear thin and seemed forced. That show is gone now (2018).

I liked the original Flip or Flop, but now the show focuses too much on the couple's animosity and snarkiness toward each other. A lot of people like that sort of thing, but it's not why I watch HGTV. It makes me uncomfortable.

Property Brothers is, like all of these shows, scripted and contrived, but it's light entertainment and in spite of the fact that they spend too much time being cute with toddlers they haven't started getting on my nerves yet. I do wish they would stay out of pre-1960s houses though. They don't seem to have any interest in or any clue about architectural history. The last thing a 1918 Craftsman cottage needs is to be gutted and turned into a 21st century open concept vinyl-window showroom.
