Making Fun of the Buyers

I cringe to see how the buyers are set up to look ignorant and clumsy.

"Help with the demolition." Let's give the girl a little bitty tack hammer to smash the plaster or drywall. Jonathan gets a nice big hammer.

Make the buyers carry a toilet down the stairs, always good for a laugh. They're too inexperienced to unbolt the tank from the bowl, so that doubles their task, also the comic effect. Just don't give them a clue.

Jonathon is often snippy or worse with the buyers who ask for changes to his designs, as if they are not the ones paying for it or as if they have no right to question his authoriteh. Of course I would never hire him or go on the show in the first place because I hate his generic, mass-produced designs.

reply

Authoriteh! HA that's funny.

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."

reply

yea but he is looking after their budget. Often times when buyers changed something they don't seem realize that it cost lots of money. Look at the kosher kitchen episode. They wanted to used of their contingency plan right at the beginning of the reno.

From what I see he is hamming it up for the show, but also I see they are asking for changes at the last minute, not giving 100%, or just getting in his way.

I had a bathroom remodeled and the contractors brought in a tile man like this. I HATED him. He acted like he was god and would not listen to anyone, then would get mad (at me) when I complained and made him redo things because of his refusal to listen to what I wanted and what the contractor who hired him told him to do in the first place. It caused a lot of strife between me and the contractor and company (because I kept telling them I was fed up and I didn't want the tile man to come back, but they either didn't want to replace him or didn't have anyone to replace him, so I was stuck with him), and I have not used the company since. Was he a good tile man? Yes, but that doesn't excuse his behavior and attitude.

Lynxx,
I know.
The twins' sense of humor is not always very good, and they can be a bit condescending towards some of the buyers.
Not sure if the show is scripted to be like that or not.
Maybe it is.
Either way, as a viewer, I don't like it either.

It's just entertainment. All of these people know what they're signing up for.
