Update to my feelings when I first saw show.

Not too long back, I wrote how I gave up on this show halfway through the second episode. The reason I did was because I was in the middle of being irritated by stories and such from the 60s involving women being treated like crap because this was the era when women were finally starting to get the rights and treatment they should’ve gotten from the get-go. I had just finished reading “Wifey” by Judy Blume, and had heard all about shows like “Mad Men” which were from the same time, so I was plenty lit up over such things as you can imagine.
I was mad at the treatment the flight attendants got from the old scowling woman checking their weight and if they’re wearing a girdle (though I did think it was kind of clever that she would slap their hip to check, because she apparently knows the sound it would make for either yes or no), but if I was ever mad at the standards they had to keep their bodies and uniforms, then clearly I haven’t been to a Hooters lately. Lol
Things that did really make me mad was how Christina Ricci’s character could’ve gotten in trouble for defending herself against a passenger trying to come on to her. The other one was the one flight attendant’s sister feeling trapped in her impending marriage, and how her own mother was telling her how to feel about it. I know it’s a tough thing to bail out of a wedding your family paid for, but what are you gonna do?
When I wrote my initial complaint about this show, I got a response from someone who was a former Pan Am flight attendant who told me how the FA’s stuck up for one another and everything, and yes it was true that you could lose out on a long flight pattern and a lot of money all because you just had to have that one extra Twinkie or whatever, and how they got paid twice as much as a teacher in Los Angeles. Unfortunately, her response disappeared as she may have erased her account or something. I dunno, but it was a wonderful response and I wish I could’ve corresponded with her.
