Jim Carrey says he needs the money :(

How is this possible??? He was killing it from 1994 - 2014, and must have cleared at least $200 million during that period. His first divorce was in 1995 so being early in his rise, minimal damage there I would assume. Also while he says he has spent a lot, he doesn't seem out of control and relatively low key. All his houses appear to be under $5 million. Nowhere near Nicolas Cage ridiculous spending levels. He is in his sixties and to be in such a position after two decades of hard work, is truly sad given all the laughs he has provided to his audiences.

Being a life long fan of his I would bet that he is doing a little stunt in the same style as one of his idols Andy Kaufman saying that he was broke just to generate headlines/confusion/get a reaction.

It shouldn't be a surprise, it happened to countless celebrities.

It is not just spending, bad investments could cost a lot of money too.

There are usually a lot of "professionals" working on ripping them off. And it shouldn't be that difficult since they usually know very little about finance.

It is very common that people know very little about money, I am talking about even well educated people, celebrities usually know even less.

I hope he continues to make these...he has a really good thing going with these movies (I finally took my boys to see it a couple of weeks ago...we all enjoyed it). I couldn't imagine a Sonic movie without him.
