Christopher Nolan Said What??!!!

Even before all of the Box office till has been counted someone had to chime in about BP being Oscar nominated. Why did it have to be Christopher Nolan?

http://www.indiewire.com/2018/03/christopher-nolan-black-panther-best-picture-oscars-1201937001/

The fan-boys are not going to take to this little bon-bon too kindly. I mean can it be that Nolan is trying to pre-empt being called Racist if BP does NOT get a nomination?

reply

Why would he ever be called a racist due to Disney's Black Panther Oscar ambitions? What does one have to do with the other?

It's not like Nolan is an arbitor of what happens at the Oscars...

reply

I actually think the bigger news is that Disney obviously think they have a great film in Mary Poppins Returns.

just a question....

have you given up on trolling on Black Panther?

I get the film is troll proof, but I honestly expected you to keep trolling....

are you now just moving your attention to "Disney" and are gonna start trolling on A Wrinkle in Time?

Why yes, what an astute observation! It makes perfect sense that if Black Panther doesn't get an Oscar nomination next year, the general consensus will be that Christopher Nolan is racist. I mean to say, how could one not come to that conclusion? Nolan was, of course, quick to defuse that potential bomb, and now the buck has been passed to Owen Wilson. If he knows what's good for him, he'll Tweet something later today.

There are Nolanites and to them Nolan is a god. If BP doesn't get an Oscar Nomination next year the Anti-BLM, Anti-SJW, Anti-PC Warriors will holler and scream that Blacks will state that the Oscars are so racist. Mind you now that will be the Anti-BLM, Anti-SJW, Anti-OC Warrior preemptive faux outrage position against any protests.

Nolan's a smart guy. His Batman films haven't garnered him a Best Picture nomination. How best to put the Oscars in a bind by being pre-emptive himself and coming out first? He said nominated not guaranteed to win mind you. Nolan is in no way connected to the Anti crowd. Which is why his endorsement probably will put them in tizzy.

^^^^ BLM, SJW PC Warrior right there

TwistedAcrobat,

Nice to hear from you.

I am happy to say that I am neutral to all of this politically sided diatribe you espouse. As I said, I just tried to engage in a conversation with you. But I did bring this on myself by labelling you a Captain in the Anti-BP army based on your attempts at painting the movie as some type of BLM message and African-American grievance driven platform.

Touche.

reply

"based on your attempts at painting the movie as"

You see... the movie HAS a "black americans only" agenda.

Touche indeed

Interesting "Opinion" on your behalf. It's too bad there isn't some official spokesperson for Black Americans Only (BAO) who can defend or deny you opinion.

Opinion: A belief or conclusion held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof: "The world is not run by thought, nor by imagination, but by opinion" (Elizabeth Drew).

reply

It's a fact shared by the majority. Including the director himself.

So yeah... stick your "opinions" up your ass.

I disagree that BP has a Black Americans only agenda. If anything the movie doesn't really paint African-Americans in the most positive of lights. Eric Stephens (Killmonger) as the apparent avatar for Black Americans is shown as the stereotypical angry Black American and forever victim of a society that abused him and turned him into a monster. The kids at the end of the film are another stereotype of black youth ready to steal an apparent spacecraft rather than want to "take a ride in it". All other Africans are shown as positive, communal, loving, agenda focused, etc, etc, etc.

What exactly was the "Black Americans" only agenda that you saw or that you feel was inherent with BP?

reply

Not even being a smartass, because I love to drop seldom used words myself, but what does "expouse" mean?

Espouse: to adopt or give support to (a cause, ideal, etc): to espouse socialism.

Sorry about that fat finger check.

No double entendre. No serendipitous meaning for "expouse" for me either. Just a plain ol' typing error. Thanks for catching that.

Cheers!

reply

You mean a best picture nomination?

Because it's guaranteed to be nominated for some of the more technical awards, special effects and production design and especially costumes. I loved the movie, but I could watch it a few extra times just to take closer looks at the amazing wardrobes.

reply

The special effects ranged from OK to really bad, especially the green screen and some of the CGI. How that warrants an Oscar nomination is anyone's guess.

reply

The visuals were pretty week when comparing to Dr. Strange, Ant-Man, Iron Man... even Thor

reply

Did you hate the costumes, too?

I absolutely loved them, myself.

reply

If BP doesn't win for costumes it will be a joke. Of course Oscars are a joke anyway.

reply

Yeah, well, "The English Patient".

reply

Crash getting best picture

Suicide Squad getting anything

JLaw beating Naomi Watts for Best Actress? One of the best actresses of our generation loses to JLaw who basically smirks her way through a movie... What was the thinking there? "JLaw's so hot right now, let's give her an Oscar and she'll be even hotter! WOO HOO!!" Way to preserve credibility there Academy...

Yeah... don't get me started on the Oscars...

reply

the suits were ok, the cgi was sub-par in places though
