Like, I get Kendrick Lamar is amazing and all, but where is the love for Ludwig Goransson?
The composed music is awesome! I love the various drums and African singers. Gives it such a tropical African vibe. Also great emotional impact when needed. Probably among the better soundtracks of a Marvel movie.

I'd say it qualifies as both soundtrack and score. I've never heard anyone talk about soundtrack and JUST mean the music from pop artists (unless its movies like Suicide Squad and Baby Driver, that mostly use actual songs from bands). Soundtrack is music, score is music, its all music. Those 2 Kendrick Lamar songs (seriously, its just 2 songs) in the WHOLE movie, don't qualify as the only soundtrack.
A soundtrack can often include complementary popular music and may not be original to the movie. Soundtracks can also offer a complete experience when played separately from the film and some songs from it may not even be present within the film at all!
A score, on the other hand, is usually non-diegetic music that compliments what is seen on screen. Film scores may be pleasant experiences when played separately from a movie, but they are usually intended to primarily support the movie. Original scores are often referred to as original sound tracks (OST), and will usually be released along-side the mainstream soundtrack.
Maybe we don't talk about it because it's a weird European fantasy. In this day and age it's easy to hear actual African music, rather than "Ludwig Grandson" creating a tropical African vibe.
What do you mean by this? I have no idea what your comment means lol.
Whats a weird European fantasy? You want to tell me Black Panther isn't a science fiction fantasy movie? because then we watched both watched a different movie.
He is saying that African music is very different from what you perceive as "African vibe". Which indeed it is. Specially traditional music from the various locations in Africa. Most "African" music doesn't have a melody line that is recognizable which makes it somewhat unsuitable for blockbuster movies [it can work to accompany a scene, but not as a proper soundtrack]
