The First Big Budget Black Superhero...

Is what's the fuzz is all about on news it seems. I would say Blade (there was also Spawn) would be the first but Marvel wasn't really established back then so I bet if they did a remake with Snipes in it or someone close to capture the likeness of Blade it would be hyuuuge. Teens love vampires and shit.

There's been lots of films, also Catwoman with Halle Berry, and the black films of the 60's and 70's, black people have always had their own cinema, they just want to take film out of everyone.

Blade wasn't Marvel's first Black Superhero.

Marvel's Black Panther introduced = T'Challa July 1966
Marvel's 1st African American Superhero = Sam Wilson: Falcon September 1969
Marvel's 1st Vampire Hunter Introduced = Eric Brooks July 1973 (Originally Blade was British)
Marvel's 1st African-American Female Superhero = Ororo Monroe: Storm May 1975 (Basically from Kenya but born in USA)

Does the average person know any of that? No.

I loved Blade I & II and just like Wesley really wanted to do BP 1st I agree with him; but am glad that BP didn't get made back then. It would have been low-budget for sure.

No one made a big deal about Blade being a black superhero, Wesley Snipes was already an established action hero by some years in '98. It was just Wesley Snipes kicking ass as a Dhampir.

But if ever they reboot Blade, I hope they recognise Blade is a black Englishman this time, cause England doesn’t have many Marvel superheroes, or Europe for that matter.

I loved the orginal Blade trilogy tough, even the third film!

reply

By that notion, I think Idris Elba could definitely fill the role of a black Englishman blade character.

reply

Won't happen unfortunately, Marvel already wasted casting him as Heimdall.
