I don't understand the problem?
So what if it's an all black cast with afrocentric content. Black people have never had a black super hero film to enjoy, Hancock (2008) was dreadful. What's wrong with making this?

shareI liked Hancock, despite a couple flaws. If it was made today, with a better understanding of how to make a good superhero movie, I think it would be huge, just because of it's originality.
shareWith Hancock it took a nosedive almost immediately after the first half of the movie. Started off fine and ended up being totally awful. Just his ''villains'' alone - oh goodness. Perhaps if the movie had come out today it could have gone differently and been reworked.
shareNothing wrong with having black cast members....but seriously..no black superhero films before?...there were films made before 2008 you know.
share'' Black people have never had a black super hero film to enjoy''' excuse me? BLADE!!!! WESLEY SNIPES! C'mon son!
share Never had a black superhero except...
Steel
Spawn
Blade
Catwoman
Hancock
...But don't let facts get in the way of your post that is complete crap.
Since I haven't seen all of those movies, I'm going to be contrarian and ask: How many of them have a black star, but majority-white casts?
Because what made BP unique was the majority-black cast, plus an African central location, and a story built around the African diaspora. I don't remember any of that in "Catwoman".
Why is it ok to have black only cast but not ok to have white only cast? Slippery slope...
shareIt's okay to have either, when the story calls for it. Who's telling you it isn't?
shareBP didn't have an all-black cast.
There were about the same number of white people in "BP" as there were non-white people in "The Avengers", or most of the other Marvel movies.
I mean, really?? So you need a superhero to be of your color to enjoy his/her movie? How ridiculous is that? So now they should a super hero for every state of India for so that the people here can enjoy their movies.
shareObviously you don't need to be of the same race, background, gender, nationality, or sexuality as a superhero to enjoy the movie they're in. Everyone from everywhere is enjoying "Black Panther", it's a hit all over the world!
But there's something special about watching a superhero screen character who reminds you of yourself or the person you wish you were in your fantasies, that's the character you totally identify with. It takes moviegoing from enjoyable to thrilling, draws you into the story, and makes you feel like the action onscreen is happening to you. And in every movie there's always one character who reminds you most of yourself or what you want to be, and it's a plus if that character is put at the center of the story instead of the side. So while I love Marvel films, my one beef with them is that they've been awfully slow to provide that lovely moviegoing experience to people who aren't white straight males.
I understand your feeling. But how is it related to the race of the character? That's what I was pointing out. To be honest I didn't enjoy a single part of this flick. Its was just badly written acted.
It showed that the movie was made by Disney. They just replaced the cute little princess with a tall, dark hunk. And the rest of the story of getting thrown out and reclaiming the kingdom remained exactly as it is has been played out since the last 50 years in any typical Disney's princess movie. Be it brave, snowhite or frozen.
Seeing that this movie was directed by a Pro Trump supporter you don’t seem to know what you’re talking about. Disney may own Marvel now but they get no real say in anything which is why BP preached the importance of having closed borders.
shareI really don't care about the politics. I don't care if actors are white, black or blue. This was a just a bad movie IMHO. That's it.

Wow!! It seems I somehow have offended you by not liking this stupid movie. I apologize if I have said something inappropriate.
You keep putting words in my mouth that I have never spoken or never will. To answer a few of your questions:
1. I absolutely hate bollywood movies even though I am an Indian. I find them distasteful and badly made.
2. I also hate dubbed movies and prefer to watch them with english susbtitles. I watched BP in english, which I am pretty fluent in.
3. Why would M'baku calling upon hanuman offend me man? Me and the fellow watchers were a bit puzzled at it though.
4. You said "The fact that someone else is enjoying the movie for their own reason annoys you?" The answer is yest it does a bit. If you say that you enjoyed the movie just because it was filmed with an African backdrop, I find it a little irritating. I would have felt the same even if it was said in an Indian context.
I still don't understand why people get so hyper if someone doesn't agree with them. That being said, this isn't a question I want to ask you. So please don't reply to this assuming that.
Who said I was offended? And I am neither triggered nor "Hyper". I merely replied to your post and asked you a few questions, quit civilly I might add. Additionally I really appreciated you answering. Hate is a VERY strong word and it is sad to hear that you HATE Bollywood movies. I've seen a couple and they are done for a particular audience so I understand WHY the Bollywood movies are the way they are. I am a fan of both sub-titled and dubbed movies but prefer Sub-titles.
As to the M'Baku censorship: http://www.digitalspy.com/movies/black-panther/news/a850526/black-panther-single-word-censored-india/ the link provides some background which I assumed rather wrongly that you would be familiar and or sensitive to the so-called controversy. You and your friends being puzzled by the reference might be indicative of a lack of understanding of the broad based mythology of the fictional setting of Wakanda making enjoyment of the movie BP a bit elusive for some?
I still don't get why you and some others are annoyed that someone else enjoys a movie for whatever the reason that they enjoy the movie. Mentioning the backdrop of Africa as the root of some of that annoyance is quite irrational. The first Godzilla movie was made for a Japanese audience and the backdrop was Japan for a reason. If the movie was made in Karachi, Pakistan it would have lost all meaning and resonance for the people of Japan and the rest of the world. Godzilla being an allegory about Nuclear Weapons and guilt.
Clearly BP is not enjoyed just because it was filmed with an African Backdrop. That's you inserting your limited understanding of those that enjoy the movie and the reasons they enjoyed it onto your own annoyance scale. Still, hating a movie filmed in China for the people of China to enjoy is a silly misuse of hate. But you are entitled to your own opinion but not your own set of facts.
You are also entitled to your own set of misconceptions. Trying to help you.
Well, there's no use arguing with a hard core fan. I surrender bro!! You are correct, I definitely am a dimwitted blind frog in a well for not liking this piece of crap.

You are correct, I definitely am a dimwitted blind frog in a well for not like this piece of crap.False contriteness is not a good look and neither is self flagellation. I am not sure what I am allegedly a hard core fan of but I will concede you lack the courage of conviction to what you say.
May I give you some advice, Subratjain, just on the grounds of being older than you?
It's very simple: Don't waste your energy disapproving of other people's harmless preferences, such as enjoying movies for silly reasons. There are too many horrible things in this cruel world to waste a moment's indignation on something so trivial and harmless! Especially if it's something enjoyable. There isn't enough joy in the world, never disapprove of totally harmless pleasures.
What??!!! No free advice for me??!!
Question for you Otter: Do you think that those people who have enjoyed and or like BP like or enjoy the movie for "Silly Reasons"? Not drawing you out or setting up a confrontation but to me your response to Subratjain allows for the minimization or even trivializes why people like what they like.
If you've never seen the youtube reviews for Movie Bob a good one to peruse and ruminate on his one for BP. It embraces your comment of
There are too many horrible things in this cruel world to waste a moment's indignation on something so trivial and harmless! Especially if it's something enjoyable. There isn't enough joy in the world, never disapprove of totally harmless pleasures... and he adds his thoughts on authenticity and agency. No one is suggesting that no one can't hold a negative review of a movie; and BP is not exempt from negative reviews and negative opinions. But there should be a degree of objectivity applied which allows for the reviewer and the audience reading the person's thoughts or opinions to put the conversation into context.
Dude, I like ALL the Marvel Films for "silly reasons"! They're full of action, bad jokes, ray guns, CGI monsters, fake spectacle, hot men in spandex, Loki being a bitch, and everything else that's anathema to the serious-minded and self-important. I work in the helping professions and have to deal with real tragedies every single time I go to work, so I'm a huge proponent of harmless fun and silliness and think the world would be a better place if everyone had more of both.
As for advice to you, I suppose it's this: Lighten the fuck up and let yourself enjoy life while you can, because you never know when you'll be dealing with me on a professional basis.
As for advice to you, I suppose it's this: Lighten the fuck up and let yourself enjoy life while you can, because you never know when you'll be dealing with me on a professional basis. As you are an adult I will respect your profession and your earnestness in helping. I have an adult sister who is MR and I have siblings who work with MR and developmentally disabled individuals (thus my aversion for the use of the term "Retarded" which I find highly offensive and which I offer up not because it was used but to provide some perspective).
