Most Advertised 2014 Movie

Today's Halloween, and obviously the last day of October. November is a fast passing month, so Thanksgiving seems to arrive pretty fast. Well, I'll make a point. I just remember how much this movie was advertised last year. Like it was in every movie theater trailer I saw for like 5 months, and they were really advertising this movie during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, enough to have like an Annie Segment with actors that looked like the actors from the movie.

I saw this movie, it was ok during the last 3/4 the rest of the movie was mostly music and dancing. This probably didn't do as well as they expected for such an advertised movie. A good underrated 2014 movie that had little advertising was Earth To Echo. I saw it with friends and they loved it.

Besides Jurassic World earlier this year, I haven't seen a movie advertised quite as much by constantly seeing the trailer.

Sorry for a long post, but I had to mention it after thinking about Thanksgiving is near, and how much this movie was advertised last Thanksgiving.

reply

I didn't even notice any advertising for this movie. We rarely see movies since they cost so much. Plus we don't have cable so I didn't see it advertised on tv either.

I basically learned about the remake from friends who saw it and commented on how good it was. At the time I wanted to avoid it. I mean you can't expect much from a remake.

Yet one day I saw the trailer and didn't hate what I saw. I gave in and saw it. I really enjoyed it.

reply

I go to the movies with the family and do remember seeing the Annie trailer a few times. It looked great and we waited and saw it in the second run theater as usual. I was a bit surprised how much I loved it considering I never have appreciated the previous Annie movies all that much. This remake turns a previously obnoxious girl into an adorable and cute one is how I feel.

reply

What? The original Annie was never "obnoxious." Name the scene.

This movie failed at the box office and scored low ratings because the title character wasn't in it.

reply

Sorry, just my feelings.

reply

I haven't seen the original Annie the whole way through. I remember my friend playing Daddy Warbucks in his school play in 7th Grade and I really enjoyed the play. This movie didn't seem like the play he was in, but a cute little girls movie focusing on the music and magic. I feel like this movie was overly advertised last year, and movies like Earth To Echo should have had more advertising. It's fine if you like it.

reply

Earth to Echo was kind of fun. Come to think of it, I feel I saw the Earth to Echo trailer as often as I did the Annie trailer. I hide pretty well from other advertising mediums so I can't compare them any other way.

reply

Sorry, just my feelings.

Which you've based on nothing.

Just would like to know the "obnoxious" scene so I can post a link to it.

She certainly wasn't.

reply

At least I acknowledge that my opinion is just an opinion. You should try it, it feels real. I don't like the 1982 Annie. When I watched it years ago I remember thinking that I found Annie to be obnoxious. Sorry, I am not going to slog through the film again to name the specific scene she is the most obnoxious in.

reply

Which scene?

Your opinion has no credibility since you can't even name a scene of obnoxious behavior or attitude in the film. In fact, the character was the opposite of your unfounded accusation. I'll post a link to any available scene from the film you want and we'll see if your baseless opinion is true.

reply

At least I frame my feelings as such. You state your feelings as fact which make you sound like an arrogant egotistical elitist in my opinion.

reply

Which feeling am I stating as fact?

The comic strip?
The box office?
The reviews?
The ratings?

reply

Man, my message got people into a debate. I've just been talking about how well advertised this movie was.

reply

'In fact, the character is opposite' - opinion not voiced as opinion.

reply

I will state that as fact unless you supply evidence supporting your opinion of "obnoxious" which is an appalling person.

There's always someone who hates a decent person no matter how decent said person is. If that's how you feel watching these scenes or any scenes from the film, I'd say the obnoxious person is you.

reply

There still is the debate. This isn't politics. I mean if you like 2014 Annie, or don't like it that's your opinion. But, now that we are near Thanksgiving a week and a half from now I noticed last year how well advertised this movie was including during the Thanksgiving parade, and seeing how this movie was previewed at every movie I saw in the movie theaters for once. I feel like it's overrated and overly advertised which a lot of you probably think. However, it's your opinion what you think about this movie if you like it or not. But, I'm sure if you went to the movies last year or watched the Thanksgiving Day parade, you saw how advertised this movie was.

reply

Yes that's it, your right. The 1982 Annie was obnoxious to me. Which scene? Every scene.

reply

Still no reason. No specifics. You're obviously a bigot.

reply

I've always felt that you are entitled to your opinions, I just wish you would frame your views as opinions instead of framing them as fact like you once again are guilty of by your name calling.
Look, just because you think 1982 is an offer from God does not mean that everyone else is going to feel that way. I think you should allow people to voice their opinions without becoming so vindictive and toxic about them.

reply

Please read with comprehension before you make your meaningless remarks, Cyclo. He referred to the character being obnoxious, that was his reaction, it is just as valid as yours. He never wrote that she was obnoxious in a particular scene.

Fine, you have been posting for over a year that you like the 1982 version and you don't like this version. We all know and understand it. Just don't be obnoxious yourself by trying to discredit those who might like this version as much or better. You come across as a real pedant, and an idiotic one at that.

reply

He didn't back up his assertion that the character was "obnoxious" by referring to anything substantive from the source film. No reason was given. Surely there would be a scene of instance he could point to in disgust if his opinion was a credible opinion. It's not.

"Idiotic" as how you regard film and character facts since film and character facts are what I post. You're just a sad little man lashing out in court who has to be restrained by multiple officers because you can't handle the jury's verdict when the jury finds you guilty on all counts.

This was definitely one of the most advertised movies of 2014 and possibly the single most advertised based on the constant stream of TV ads. A movie marketed as a blockbuster in the U.S. and 80 other countries. You know what that means in Hollywood. $100-$150 million in marketing expenses.
