Musicals need great singers

Quvenzhané Wallis cannot sing. Her autotuned soulless vocals sunk this movie.

Maiko Lady [Maiko wa redî (2014)] is a recent Japanese remake of My Fair Lady (1964). Mone Kamishiraishi's voice soars throughout the wonderful movie. Maiko Lady offers a fresh take on the original by exploring the ancient geisha traditions and contrasting that cultural rigidity with the refinement of English aristocracy from My Fair Lady.

The Annie remake offered nothing new apart from modern fashion and tech accessories. Without anything new to say, why was Annie remade at all?

But most of all, the songs are important in a musical. Without beautiful emotive voices, a musical will always fail.

I love her singing. I find that my Masters in Music makes me hard to please in that regard. You of course are always entitled to your opinion.

It was a good fun musical that did decent business...especially considering the hack that Sony pictures experienced resulting in the leaking of the film.

I'm no music master, but the songs/voices were good enough for a commoner like me! 

It didn't make money so the business wasn't decent.

Art that forges a path forward culturally is usually not financially successful. The are more important things in life than money.

It was autotuned to death! Studio processing does not equate to actual singing.

You poor thing. You are saying that 98% of the music everyone hears is not real, whatever. Next you are going to say that only acoustic guitars are real and electric guitars are fake.
