I was disappointed they didnt include all of Luke's letter, i found that to be the most touching part of her story.
Also...i found Hector and Harry to be much better looking than i thought of them in the book...also anyone notice Harry and his girlfriend, they were both in heartbreak high together :)
I agree with both issues you mention, Sunshine Pink. I found Connie's back story - the tragedy of her parents' lives - to be a reasonable explanation for why she is so attracted to a man old enough to be her father.
And I agree about Hector & Harry. My big disappointment is that Alex Dimitriades didn't have Hector's role, and that they hadn't found another Greek actor of approx 40 to play Harry. Reason? Jonathan LaPaglia is Italian, and he just doesn't look Greek to me!!! I found his casting in the role of Hector to be a lazy one. It's like, "Hector? How `bout that younger LaPaglia dude? Italian? Who's gonna notice?"
Agreed. They made it seem Connie was ignorant of her parents fate and although they showed how much Connie idolised her father they couldn't convey the moment of realisation when Connie admitted that her father wasn't perfect and that she was more like her mother. I really didn't like Connie in this episode which is a shame because I really liked her character in the book. It's definitely not the fault of the actress who did a wonderful job of playing a young woman who found herself in a situation that was slipping out of her control. I'm really eager to see the next episode as I really didn't like Rosie in the book . I wonder if the writers will be able to make me feel more sympathy for her.
I also didn't like Rosie in the book. I actually have some people in my life who play the victim `game', and then when they don't get their needs met they call the police, or the lawyers, or the psychiatrist - when in reality they could do with a few psych visits themselves!! So I have little compassion for this woman, despite her difficult upbringing. As I see it, what happened to Hugo was in part brought about by his own upbringing, for which she is 50% responsible.
I am also reacting negatively to Rosie because I don't like Melissa George's `damaged woman' portrayals. Her predatory Laura in "In Treatment" had me throwing things around the room. I guess that indicates she plays these roles a little too well!
